Why does nobody talk about how one offhand comment from a coworker can totally rearrange your understanding of something you thought you knew?

I was talking to Janet from accounting the other day while waiting for the coffee machine to finish, and she said thing about how my constant rushing to finish tasks by 3 PM was actually making me miss the little mistakes that add up later, and now I can't stop noticing all the times I skip checking my own work because I'm just trying to beat some imaginary clock in my head.

It really hits you hard when something like that clicks into place, doesn't it. Those offhand comments from coworkers are like secret keys to understanding ourselves better. Makes you wonder what other small things we've been totally blind to this whole time.
