Appreciation post: My coworker saw me fake-smile through a 20-minute meeting after my entire lunch ended up on the floor

I was in the break room at our office in downtown Nashville. Had just spent $12 on a really good loaded baked potato from that place on 2nd Ave. Dropped the whole thing right after I sat down. Plastic container cracked open, sour cream everywhere. I just stood there staring at it for like 5 seconds. Then I had to go into a meeting with our regional manager 5 minutes later. Sat there nodding and smiling while he talked about Q3 metrics. All I could think about was that potato. How do you guys keep it together when something dumb like that happens right before you have to act normal?

You just gotta go to the bathroom for a solid minute. Take a few deep breaths before you walk in, tell yourself it's just a potato. Works every time for me.

Respectfully, Jade, saying "it's just a potato" misses how those little LOSSES can completely derail your whole afternoon.

Damn, $12 for a baked potato? That's a crime in itself, but watching sour cream splatter right before Q3 talk is brutal.
