Can we talk about smiling through a family dinner last Sunday?
I was at my cousin's house in Dayton and laughed at all the jokes, but inside I was just counting the minutes until I could leave because my dog was sick at home. Has anyone else had to pretend everything's fine when you're actually really worried about something else?

Honestly, how sick is your dog?

Wondering if it's maybe just a bad bug that needs more time to run its course. Like reese_bennett25 said, vets do jump to allergies pretty quick sometimes. A week of being tired after not eating much seems pretty normal... their energy has to come back slow. I'd watch him but maybe hold off on the big worry for a bit.

It's been a rough week. He had a bad stomach bug and couldn't keep anything down, so we had to do the bland chicken and rice diet. The vet said it might be a food allergy, so we're trying a new sensitive stomach kibble now. He's finally keeping his meals down, but he still seems pretty tired all day. What did your vet suggest for stomach issues?

My old lab had stomach problems for years and it was never a food allergy. Vets jump to that too fast sometimes. A week of being tired after a bug is pretty normal, their bodies need to recover. I'd give the new food a full month before stressing, but if he's still wiped out next week maybe push for more tests. It just might not be as big a deal as it feels right now.
