I quit faking excitement at my son's games and it cost me a friendship

Last spring at my son's little league game in Columbus, his buddy's mom caught me checking my phone during the 4th inning and called me out, saying I 'didn't care enough.' I guess I got tired of pretending every swing was thrilling after watching 12 games that season. I told her the truth, that I was there for my kid but the constant cheering felt fake to me. She hasn't spoken to me since, and honestly, I'm fine with it, but has anyone else lost a friend just for being honest about how they really feel at these events?

...and I read some parenting blog a while back that was basically saying pressure to be a certain kind of sports parent is making everyone miserable, both the kids and the adults. Honestly, sitting there checking your phone sounds pretty normal to me after twelve games. I mean, you showed up, that's gotta count for something.
