Two years is a long time to let that sit with you... sometimes managers just say stuff without thinking how their own personality quirks are the real issue.

Two years ago my old manager called me "defensive" in a meeting with HR. How do you tell if a manager's criticism is about your actual work or just their own issues they're projecting onto you? Because once a label sticks in someone's head, it's hard to shake it even if they're the one with the problem.
