My sister said something about my laugh that made me stop
We were at a family cookout last Sunday and I was doing my usual thing, laughing super loud at my uncle's bad jokes. Later, my sister pulled me aside and said, 'You know, your real laugh is quiet. That big one is just for show.' I was totally caught off guard. I've been using that loud, performative laugh for years at work and parties to seem more fun and easygoing. I thought it was just part of being social. But she's right. When I'm truly happy, like watching a funny movie alone, I just do this little quiet snort. It made me realize how much energy I waste putting on a happy face that isn't even mine. I've been thinking about it all week. Has anyone else had a moment where someone pointed out a fake habit you didn't even know you had?

That "happy face that isn't even mine" line really hits home, and honestly, I'm tired just thinking about it.
