Overheard my coworker say I 'look tired' right before a meeting
I smiled and laughed it off, but inside I was thinking about how I didn't sleep because my kid was up all night sick. She meant well but it made me realize how quick we are to point out how someone looks without asking how they are. Has anyone else had a comment like that sting more than it should?

Hate to nitpick but I don't think she meant well. People say "you look tired" as a backhanded way to say you look like crap without actually caring how you are. It's more about them feeling awkward than helping.

Worst compliment ever.

@gibson.avery It's weird how "you look tired" is somehow both a bad compliment AND a bad insult at the same time. Like it's the worst of both worlds because you can't win no matter how you take it.
