Serious question, does one amazing week make up for months of faking happy, or does it just make the crash worse?
Two weeks ago I had what I can only call the best week in a long time. Monday my boss pulled me aside and said I nailed a client thing I stayed up until 2am on, Wednesday my sister texted me a photo of her new puppy, and Friday I got a random $80 check in the mail from an old deposit I forgot about. I smiled through all of it, posted the puppy pic on my story, and inside I felt like I was watching somebody else's life. Usually I fake happy at work every single day, but this week I didn't have to fake it, and here's the weird part, that scared me more. On Saturday I sat on my kitchen floor at 7pm and cried for no reason I could name. My friend Dana thinks good weeks are proof the bad stuff isn't permanent. My cousin Ray says they're worse because they remind you how far your normal mood is from that. I honestly don't know which one I believe. If you've had a week like that, did it help you or did it wreck you after?
Wait, you cried on the kitchen floor two weeks after the good stuff happened? That part hit me because I would've thought the crash would come right after the high, not days later when you're just sitting there minding your own business. Dana might be right that good weeks prove the bad stuff can lift, but Ray's point freaks me out more, because if a great week just shows you how far off your normal is, then yeah, that's gonna sting worse.
