Spent two months trying to fix a leak in my upstairs bathroom, turned out to be a $6 wax ring
Back in March I noticed a stain on the ceiling in my kitchen that kept getting bigger no matter what I did. I tore out drywall, replaced a section of pipe, called a plumber who charged me $180 just to look at it, and still had water dripping. My wife kept asking why I looked so stressed at dinner when I was joking with the kids, because I didn't want to admit I had no clue what I was doing. Finally a guy at the hardware store in Tulsa asked if I'd checked the toilet seal upstairs, and it was a $6 wax ring the entire time. Two months of weekend work for a part that costs less than lunch, has anyone else chased a problem that turned out to be way simpler than they thought?
