The $90 dating app subscription I kept for 8 months

I was smiling on dates, telling my sister I was fine, but the whole time I was still paying for the premium tier on Hinge in Chicago because I felt quitting meant admitting failure. All those profiles I swiped past, zero actual connections that lasted past one coffee meetup. I finally canceled it last Tuesday and used the money for a weekend camping trip instead. Anyone else hang onto something useless just because you told people you were happy doing it?

Ugh, I felt this in my bones (and my bank account). I did the same thing with a yoga studio membership, kept going to classes I hated just to prove I was getting my money's worth. The day I quit, I bought a cheap hammock and honestly, that bought me more peace than any downward dog ever did.

Is quitting a yoga class really worth a whole peace-of-mind celebration, @the_claire?
