Warning: That cashier at the gas station last week saw right through my smile.
She didn't even ask how I was, just said "you don't have to pretend" while handing me my change, and I almost broke down right there by the Slurpee machine. Has anyone else had a stranger call them out like that and did it mess with your head for days?

Man, @kimr74, that's the worst. What worked for me was just sitting with it for a few minutes and then hitting a quick walk to clear my head. How long did it take you to shake that one off?
