My mom told me to "just rip off the band-aid" when I was moving out of my rental in Portland last month

She meant be honest with my landlord about the stains on the carpet, not literally toss everything into boxes without labeling a single one. Spent 3 days finding my frying pan and still can't locate my good tweezers. Has anyone else gotten terrible advice from a well-meaning family member that made things way harder?

3 days to find a frying pan? That's just being dramatic, it's not that serious.

Man, I've literally dug through five bins of random kitchen stuff at a thrift store looking for a decent pan. It's not about being dramatic, it's about not wanting to spend $40 on a new one when a $5 find works just as good. Sometimes you gotta be patient to find the one that's not all scratched up or warped.
