Rant: Moving for a job isn't the fresh start everyone makes it out to be

I packed up from Spokane to Boise for a warehouse supervisor spot back in March, figured new city, new title, new me. Turns out I still eat gas station sandwiches at 11pm and the only difference is my rent jumped $400 for a smaller apartment. Everyone kept saying 'just give it six months' but I'm at month four and the loneliness doesn't care about my paycheck. Has anyone else hit that wall where the big change you made just feels like the same problems with a different sunset?

You ever notice how moving is basically just paying extra money to be miserable in a different time zone? I did the same thing a few years back, thought a new city would fix my brain. Nope, just gave me a new address for my same old problems and a fancier grocery store to cry in. The six month mark is a lie, I hit month ten and still felt like a ghost with a lease. At least the gas station sandwiches come with a better view of the mountains, I guess that counts for something.

Honestly the six month mark thing is a total myth, month ten is when the newness really dies and you’re just stuck with your own head. But hey, at least those mountain view sandwiches taste better than the ones back home, so you’re winning somewhere.
