The week everything went right and it actually scared me
Last March I had this insane run where I got a job offer, found an apartment in Portland, and my car passed emissions all in the same 5 days. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, you know? But it didn't, and that felt weird in a bad way. Made me realize how used I was to bad news stacking up, so when good stuff landed all at once I didn't trust it. Now I catch myself double checking every little win, like I can't just enjoy a good stretch. Has anyone else gotten suspicious when life goes smooth for too long? How do you not mess it up by overthinking?
Been there man, and the thing that helped me most was writing stuff down. Not like a feelings journal, just a plain list on my phone of good things that happened and when. When you can scroll back and see the wins actually stuck around, your brain stops treating every good day like a trap. Also, when things go smooth, do something small and normal right away, like mow the lawn or do the dishes. It sounds dumb but it grounds you so the good run feels like regular life instead of some weird glitch. The overthinking part is the real problem, not the good luck. Your head got trained to expect the worst because bad stuff used to pile up, so now it flags anything good as a warning sign. It takes a while to unlearn that, but the more good stretches you live through without anything blowing up, the quieter that alarm gets. Don't sit around waiting for the shoe to drop, just keep living your days and let the evidence stack up on the other side for once.
