Told my parents about moving to Austin, got a 20 minute lecture on nothing

I called them last Thursday to say I'm relocating for a job in April, and my dad went on about property taxes, traffic, and how hot it gets, none of which I asked about. They act like I haven't lived on my own for 7 years and researched this for 3 months. Anyone else have family treat your big move like a kid's school project instead of a real adult decision?
