Vent: my coworker Dana said I'm 'too comfortable' and now I can't stop thinking about it
I've been at the same warehouse job in Fresno for 6 years now. Last week Dana looked at me during break and said 'you've been here forever, don't you want more?' and it hit way harder than I expected. I keep telling myself the pay is fine and I know the routine, but I can't shake the feeling she's right. Has anyone else had someone call them out like that and actually made the jump?
It's wild how one offhand comment from someone can live in your head rent free (Dana probably forgot she even said it by lunch). I've noticed this pattern where people stay in jobs they've outgrown mostly because the devil they know feels safer than the one they don't, and the routine itself becomes a kind of comfort trap. Six years is long enough that you're basically a different person than the one who started, so it might be worth asking if current-you would still take that job today.
