Had a weirdly good day at the forge after trying a new coal mix

I mean, I was just messing around, but I swapped out 30% of my usual bituminous with some anthracite I got from a guy in Scranton. The fire was way cleaner and hotter, and I managed to forge weld a small Damascus billet in one heat, which I've never done before. Has anyone else played with different coal blends like that?

It's just coal, man. Not rocket science.

You know what, milam48 is right. People try to make everything so complicated these days. It's digging up rocks and burning them, that's the whole story. All the extra talk is just noise from people who want to sound smart. We used to just call it a dirty job and move on.

Yeah I thought that too until I saw what it does to the air up close.

Hold on, the_lee has a point. If you actually look at the science, it's way more than just digging up rocks like milam48 says. The stuff it puts in the air changes everything, and that's the real problem we have to deal with.
