Hit 500 rail spikes forged yesterday. That number caught me off guard.
I keep a tally on my shop wall. Just little marks. Been at it for about 2 years now. I counted up the marks last night and realized I had forged exactly 500 rail spikes. Didn't think I was that far along. Each one takes me maybe 20 minutes start to finish with the jig I built. Anybody else track their output like that?

Twenty minutes each? That's wild. I timed myself once and I'm pushing 45 minutes on a good day. 500 spikes in two years at 20 minutes a pop... that's like 10,000 minutes of hammering. My shoulder aches just thinking about it. You must have that jig dialed in perfectly to move that fast. I'm honestly kind of impressed.

500 spikes at 45 minutes each would be 22,500 minutes, not 10,000.
