I finally invested in a proper forge blower after years of cheap fixes

I spent $180 on a good centrifugal blower for my coal forge last month. My old setup was a beat-up hair dryer that kept overheating and dying mid-project. That cost me about $40 every 6 months to replace, so this was a big upgrade. The new one pushes steady air without clogging or burning out, and my fire management got way better. Has anyone else switched from a janky blower to a real forge model and noticed a difference in heat control?

Read a piece in an old blacksmithing magazine about how people using hair dryers tend to get inconsistent heat because of the narrow nozzle and poor airflow control. That was my problem exactly. My new centrifugal blower has a big wide outlet and I can really fine tune the air with a simple gate valve.

My old hair dryer had a tiny nozzle too and I kept fighting the heat swings. Swapped to a small surplus blower from a furnace last year and the difference was night and day with a basic sliding gate. Plus the big wide outlet lets me cover a whole forge in one pass without all that back and forth.
