My anvil wobbled for 5 years before I checked the stand bolts

I kept blaming my hammer technique for uneven hits, but last week I finally noticed the 2x6 base had worked loose on one side, so I tightened everything down and the difference was night and day. It made me wonder how many other folks are fighting their setup instead of their skill when things go sideways at the anvil. Anyone else had a hidden shop problem that took way too long to spot?

My buddy blamed his forge for cold steel for a year, turned out his propane hose was kinked.

Is the fitting the first thing everyone checks now, or do we all learn the hard way? @west.richard's buddy should've just followed the gas line like a breadcrumb trail, easiest fix in the shop.
