My forge blower died mid-heat on a $400 railing job

Last Tuesday I was bringing a set of stair railings up to welding temp and the old blower on my brake drum forge just quit with a loud hum. Turns out the capacitor in the motor had bulged and leaked all over the inside. Anyone else keep spare motors around or just rebuild what you got?

Man, that's rough when it happens right in the middle of a paying job. I had an old blower do the exact same thing to me last year, capacitor leaked all over and I ended up just rebuilding it with a new motor I found at a surplus store.

Wait, wasn't it a relay that died, not the capacitor?

Honestly, betty_kelly9 that capacitor leak story is exactly what happened to my buddy Tom last fall.
