Took me 6 months to admit the old guy at the forge was right about hammer weight
I spent 4 years swinging a 3 pound hammer on every project because I thought heavier meant faster. One day after he watched me struggle on a scroll for 20 minutes he handed me a 2 pounder and said 'your arm is tired, not the metal.' Has anyone else found their 'too light' hammer actually does better work?

My buddy @rubyk26 tried a 1.5 pounder after years on a 3 pound and finished a whole set of brackets in half the time.

Buddy of mine swapped to a lighter ball peen and his wrist finally stopped swelling up.

Used to think you were just being lazy if you went lighter. Thought I was tough for swinging a 3 pounder all day. Then I tried a 1.5 pound ball peen on some small scrolls and realized my control was way better. Actually finished faster because I wasn't fighting the hammer. Old guy was right, your arm gets stiff and you start missing hits.
