A stranger on the bus in Portland made me rethink my whole morning routine

I was on the 15 line heading downtown last Tuesday, scrolling through my feed like always. This older guy sits next to me, nods at my phone, and says "You know, I used to read the paper for 20 minutes every day. Now I read headlines for 20 seconds and feel like I know less than ever." That hit me weird. I realized I spend more time swiping past opinions than actually thinking about one thing. I still use my phone, but now I pick one article a day and read it slow, maybe during my lunch break. Has anyone else tried cutting down their scroll time like that, or is that just a losing battle?

Oh great, another self-improvement trap. My scroll finger is already twitching.
