Can we talk about how handwritten grocery lists beat phone notes every time?
I spent six months using my phone for grocery lists and kept buying the wrong stuff or forgetting things. Switched back to a paper list on the fridge last week and my total dropped by $12 because I actually stuck to what I needed.

That "total dropped by $12" part really hit home. I had the same thing happen when I switched back to paper, my impulse buys basically disappeared.

Jumped back to paper lists myself about a month ago and it's wild how much more present I feel just writing things down. There's this pattern I've noticed where using a phone for anything practical actually makes my brain go into its scrolling mode, like it's waiting for a distraction. When I grab a pen and paper my focus locks in completely and I don't end up at the store grabbing extra stuff because I glanced at a notification midway. It's the same way I prefer physical books over e-readers for not dozing off, or using a real alarm clock instead of my phone so I don't start checking emails in bed. Something about having a single physical thing to do makes the task feel real and important, not just another swipe.
