Can we talk about how I watched my dad wash and reuse ziploc bags for 30 years until I finally asked him why

He grew up during a drought in California in the 70s where water was so scarce they'd ration every drop, and that habit of saving every bag just stuck with him long after the drought ended, what weird habits did you pick up from your parents that you still can't shake?

That drought mentality really sticks with you, same reason my dad still saves twist ties from bread bags.

And now I'm the same way with twist ties, it's ridiculous.

Right, once you start collecting twist ties it's hard to stop. I'll grab them off new stuff before I even open the package sometimes, just feels wrong to throw away something that useful.
