Got handed a dusty cookbook at a garage sale in Des Moines last Saturday
It was some spiral bound thing from 1978 a church group put together. I flipped to a recipe for "hamburger pie" and realized my grandma used to make that exact thing every Tuesday. Has anyone else found a random old cookbook that brought back a whole flood of memories?

Heard a story from my friend Jenna about this. She made "hamburger pie" for her boyfriend's first dinner at her place - it was supposed to be this fancy cottage pie thing. He took one bite, looked her dead in the eye, and said "babe, this tastes exactly like a sad meatloaf." She still brings it up every time someone mentions cooking disasters.

Oh man that reminds me of when I tried to make a fancy shepherd's pie and it came out looking like cat food.
