I called that viral 'quiet quitting' video total nonsense, then I watched my own brother do it at his job in Boise
I'm not a big video person, I scroll past most of them, but one kept popping up on my feed about a guy who just stopped doing extra stuff at work. I rolled my eyes hard. Sounded like lazy excuses to me, honestly. Then my brother in Boise lost his job at a warehouse last spring and I started paying attention. He wasn't lazy. He was showing up, doing his 8 hours, going home, and his boss still wrote him up twice for dumb stuff like not answering texts on his day off. I watched that same video again 3 months later and it hit totally different. The part where the guy said 'they don't pay you for the worry, so stop worrying' got me because my brother was losing sleep over a job that let him go over a schedule change. I still think some folks use that phrase to just coast, but I was wrong about the whole thing being garbage. If your boss texts you at 9pm on a Saturday, do you answer, or not?
