I finally picked driving 20 extra minutes for cheaper gas in Portland

I live near downtown Portland and always filled up at the Shell on my block for like $4.50 a gallon. Last month I tried the Costco in Hillsboro instead, which was $3.85. Yeah it took 20 minutes each way but I saved about $12 per tank and honestly the drive was pretty nice with a podcast. Has anyone else found a weird route or store that cuts their spending way more than you'd expect?

Yo have you ever tried the Arco off of 205 near the airport? Tbh it's usually like 20-30 cents cheaper than anything in NW and honestly the drive is kind of a vibe with the sunset. I feel you on the podcast thing too, I started doing the same thing with my Costco run in Clackamas and now I actually look forward to the gas trip. It's wild how a little detour can turn a chore into something chill, plus saving that $12 makes a real difference when you're filling up every week. Ngl I used to think it was dumb but now I'm hooked.

It's funny, I did the math once and realized I was basically paying like $2 an hour for the privilege of sitting in my car listening to NPR when I'd just stay home and do the same thing anyway.
