I used to print every map for road trips. Now I just yell at my phone.
Back in 2015 I would spend an hour printing MapQuest directions for a trip to Asheville. Had to highlight the turns and tape them to my dash. Last weekend I drove to Richmond and just told my phone "go home" and it picked the route. Thing is I miss the old way sometimes. Getting lost used to be part of the trip. Now if I miss a turn my phone recalculates before I even feel stupid about it. Anyone else still keep a paper atlas in their trunk just in case?

Tape them to my dash" - man, that sentence hit me hard. I forgot about doing that exact thing, printing those long strips of paper and trying to fold them so only the next turn was visible. I literally have three old paper atlases in my trunk right now, two of them are from like 2008 and totally outdated but I refuse to throw them out. Getting lost was half the adventure, now my phone treats every wrong turn like an emergency that needs immediate correction.

Who else still has a 2003 Thomas Guide collecting dust in their backseat?

@the_jennifer 2003 was the last year they mapped dirt roads correctly, I still use mine for that.
