Last Wednesday was supposed to be a normal day but it turned into a total wreck

I woke up late because my alarm didn't go off. Then I spilled coffee all over my work notes while rushing out the door. At lunch my car battery died in the parking lot and I had to wait 45 minutes for a jump. That evening I got a call saying a project I spent 20 hours on got canceled. But then my neighbor knocked on my door with a homemade pie as a random thank you for returning his lost dog. That one nice thing somehow made the whole awful day feel less bad. Has anyone had a day flip like that out of nowhere?

...man, I've been there with the coffee on the notes thing, that's the worst way to start the day. Best thing I found is to keep a digital backup on my phone, just snap a photo of any important pages before I head out. And for the car battery, I started keeping one of those portable jump starters in my trunk, saved me a few times actually. That pie from the neighbor though, sometimes it's like the universe knows you need something small to balance out the chaos. Just gotta ride the wave and take the good where you find it.

Simon, you said "take a photo of important pages before I head out" but that's actually not the best fix for the coffee-on-notes thing... The real trick is to keep your coffee cup on the opposite side of your desk from your papers. Learned that the hard way after ruining a whole meeting agenda once. And about the portable jump starter, I've got one too but they need to stay charged or they're useless. Mine died on me once and I ended up calling AAA anyway. But yeah, that neighbor pie thing really does hit different when you're having one of those days... it's like the universe throws you a tiny bone right when you need it most.
