My uncle's 40 year old advice about car batteries finally clicked today
My uncle always said to check the ground wire before anything else when a car won't crank. I spent 2 hours last weekend swapping a starter on my 2005 Civic, only to find the ground cable had corroded clean through at the frame. He passed away 3 years ago and I never took him seriously because he still used a flip phone. Anyone else have advice from an older relative that only made sense after you wasted time and money ignoring it?

Ground cables are the first thing I check now after the same thing happened to me on an old Ford. Corrosion hides under that coating and looks fine until you wiggle it, then everything falls apart. Always carry a spare cable and some terminal cleaner in the trunk, costs less than one tow.
