That time my drill chuck failed halfway through a deck job
Was building a small deck for my neighbor last Saturday. About 20 screws in, the chuck on my 5 year old drill just stopped gripping. Couldn't tighten it at all. Had to finish the whole thing with a hand screwdriver. Took me 3 extra hours and my arm is still sore. Anyone else had a tool die right in the middle of a project?

Nothing like a hand screwdriver to remind you how much you love your power tools" - ain't that the truth. But I gotta ask, was there any warning signs before it gave up? Like did the chuck feel loose or make any grinding noises in the days before, or did it just totally fail out of nowhere with zero notice? Because I swear sometimes tools have this sixth sense for the worst possible timing, you know? I've had stuff crap out on me mid job before (usually right when I'm cursing at it the most), and it always makes me wonder if I missed something obvious earlier.

Tools know when you're on a deadline, that's for sure.
