The 6 month difference in my dog's hips from switching food brands
I saw my golden retriever limping last November after walks. Took her to the vet in Seattle and they said early hip dysplasia. The vet suggested a specific joint food but I was skeptical. I switched to a high omega 3 brand with glucosamine anyway. Six months later she runs up stairs without hesitating. The vet even commented on her improved range of motion at her checkup. Has anyone else seen this big of a change from diet alone?

Oh did you try the brand with the green bag? My friend had a lab with the same issue and it was like night and day. She was about to schedule surgery and then switched to that omega 3 food on a whim. Her dog went from barely making it up the porch steps to chasing squirrels in the backyard within four months. The vet was completely shocked at the follow up and said the joint fluid looked way less inflamed. She still gives her dog a little fish oil on top just to be safe.

That omega 3 thing is no joke. I started my old hound on it after reading some study from Purdue about joint health in dogs. He was 12 and had stopped wanting to go on walks longer than 10 minutes. Three months in he was pulling me down the street again, not limping after. The vets at the clinic where I work said the EPA and DHA basically lubricate the joints from the inside. We actually recommend it for any patient showing early arthritis signs now. It saved me hundreds on those expensive joint injections they push.

Did anyone else notice that the omega 3s might have helped with skin issues too? My old girl had this weird dry, flaky patch on her elbow for years... started her on fish oil for the joints and that patch cleared up within two months. The vet said it's because the anti inflammatory effects work throughout the whole body, not just the joints. So you might get a healthier coat as a bonus side effect.
