Thought my plumbing leak would be a 2 hour fix, ended up taking 6 days
I found a small drip under my kitchen sink last Tuesday and figured I'd just tighten a pipe. Turns out the corrosion was way worse than I thought and I had to replace 8 feet of copper pipe plus the garbage disposal flange. Has anyone else had a simple home repair turn into a total nightmare like this?

Makes you wonder if anything in life ever stays simple once you dig into it.

Wait, @avery219 your WHOLE subfloor was gone? That's insane.

I read a forum post once where a guy thought he'd just swap out a toilet flapper and ended up finding out his entire subfloor was rotted from a slow leak. That's basically what happened to you! The garbage disposal flange is notorious for hiding corrosion issues too. I had a similar thing with a shower valve last year, thought it was a quick cartridge swap but the whole thing was seized up and I ended up cutting a hole in the wall from the other side. Home repair never just stays small, it always finds a way to blow up into a week long project.
