Vent: That one interaction at the DMV that's still in my head

Last month I was waiting in line at the DMV in St. Paul, and this older guy behind me just starts talking about how he's been coming to that same office for 40 years. He pointed at a crack in the ceiling and said he watched it appear back in '92 during a bad storm. It made me realize how we all pass through these spaces without really seeing them, you know? Has anyone else had a random conversation in a boring place that just stuck with you for no clear reason?

Oh man, my best friend once had a cashier at Target tell her his entire life story while she just wanted to buy toothpaste.

Did she ever figure out why he picked her to unload on? I'm always curious what makes a stranger decide you're the one who gets to hear their whole life story.

Reminds me of the time a librarian told me her entire divorce story over a library card.
