Wasted $50 on a fancy water bottle that leaks everywhere

Bought this insulated bottle from a trendy shop in Austin last month. Paid $50 because the reviews said it keeps ice cold for 24 hours. First day I put it in my bag, soaked my laptop and notes. Ice stays cold alright but the water ends up in my backpack. Anyone else get duped by overpriced gear that doesn't work?

That fancy bottle's probably overengineered so the seal gets knocked loose in a bag.

I used to be the person who'd say "you get what you pay for" and buy the expensive stuff. But after my $60 "spill proof" Yeti knockoff dumped coffee all over my car seat, yeah, I get it now. Sometimes you're just paying for a logo and a leaky lid.

... I read somewhere that some of these bottle companies actually use the same factory in China as the cheap ones, just slap their logo on and charge triple. The seal design issue makes sense though. I've got a $15 Thermos from the grocery store that's been going strong for 3 years, never leaks a drop. Meanwhile my buddy's $40 Hydro Flask started rusting around the rim after two months. Feels like half the time you're just paying for the Instagram aesthetic.
