Bought a $60 foam core cutter for terrain building, total waste

I figured a fancy cutter would make foam core edges perfect for my D&D castle build. Ended up tearing the foam on every cut and went back to my $3 utility knife after an hour. Anyone else tried those pricey cutters and regretted it?

Wait, you're telling me a $60 cutter actually made worse cuts than a cheap utility knife? I figured the expensive ones would at least give you cleaner edges on foam core, not tear the whole thing apart. Guess I'll stick with my old knife and save the cash for more supplies.

Wait did you actually try cutting foam core with a $60 cutter @robin591? Thats wild, those expensive ones are usually overkill and just wreck the material. Cheaper cutters with a single metal blade work way better for foam core because they're less aggressive and you can apply lighter pressure. The problem with those fancy ones is they're designed for thicker stuff like insulation board, so they tear thin foam core apart. Just grab a standard utility knife with a fresh blade and score it a few times, then snap it. That's all you need, no need to waste money.
