DAE regret buying the $60 wooden insert for Wingspan? Mine doesn't even fit the Europe cards

I grabbed the fancy laser cut insert for my Wingspan box about 4 weeks ago, thinking it would cut setup time and finally get the eggs and food tokens under control. Turns out the Europe expansion cards don't fit in the slots unless I sleeve them, and the lid sits about a half inch off the box, so it's been collecting dust on my shelf in Seattle. Did I just buy the wrong brand, or is the whole insert thing kind of a scam for anyone else who plays with expansions mixed in?
