Found out this week that Monopoly has been around since 1935

I was looking up the history of board games because I was bored at my shop between grooming appointments. I always assumed Monopoly was from the 1950s or something. Turns out it was first published in 1935 by Parker Brothers and over 275 million copies have been sold worldwide. That stat surprised me because I always figured newer games like Settlers of Catan would have caught up by now. Catan came out in 1995 and is only at like 40 million copies. Anyone else ever look up random board game sales numbers and get surprised by how old some of them really are?

Catan's numbers are weak because Monopoly's been destroying friendships WAY longer.

Right? I looked up Scrabble once and found out it's from 1938. Blew my mind.
