Had to pick between a game night with my regular group or a big con in Columbus...
My friends wanted to play our usual Gloomhaven campaign this past Saturday, but there was a board game convention happening two hours away. I chose the con and spent about $60 on entry and food. It was fun but I felt bad missing our group's story progress... Has anyone else skipped their regular game for a con and felt weird about it?

You said you felt bad missing the group's story progress. Is that the main thing, or is it more about letting your friends down? Like, would you feel the same if you just missed a random one-shot game night, instead of your ongoing campaign?

Oh man, you're really making me pick apart my own guilt here! It's definitely both, but the ongoing campaign is way worse. Missing a one-shot would just be a bummer, but missing the big story feels like skipping a chapter in a book you're all reading together. My friends are nice about it, but I still picture my character just standing in a corner drooling while they save the world. I'm basically the group's ghost member that week.

Ugh, but isn't the story what makes the campaign matter so much to begin with?

Ever feel like you can't win either way? I mean, you get that cool con experience but then miss out on the group stuff. It's totally normal to feel a bit torn after.
