Had to pick between Gloomhaven and Jaws of the Lion for my group last month
My group of 4 only had time for one campaign, so I had to choose between the full Gloomhaven box and the smaller Jaws of the Lion. I went with Jaws because it was $35 and had a built-in tutorial for the newer players. It worked out great, but now three of them want to jump into the big box and I'm worried about the time commitment. Anyone else face this choice and regret going one way or the other?

Why not just jump into the big box now while Jaws is still fresh?

...and now you're stuck being the one who has to teach them all the rules again for the full box. Yeah I went through this exact thing with my group. Jaws was the right call for the price and the tutorial, no regrets there. But now you get to watch them get all excited about the big box while you're the one figuring out how to store 1,500 pieces in a foam core insert. Honestly though, the time commitment thing is real. Jaws took us about 12 sessions. The big box? We're on month 8 and still haven't finished half the campaign. Tell them to pace themselves or you'll all be playing this same game when the next election rolls around.
