Hit 200 games logged and realized I don't own a single abstract
I was going through my collection count for fun last night and hit 200 different games played. But looking at the list, there's zero abstract strategy games like Go or Hive. I guess I'm just a theme junkie. Anyone else notice weird gaps in their play history?

Man, I just read something the other day about how abstracts are basically the purest form of game design because there's no luck or theme to hide behind. That got me thinking about my own collection and yeah, I checked and I've got maybe two abstracts total. It's funny how we can have all these games about zombies and spaceships but miss the stuff that's been around for thousands of years. I bet half the people here on this forum have the same blind spot. Maybe it's time to grab Hive or something simple like that to fill the gap.

Purest form of game design" got me thinking about chess, man. I tried to teach my little cousin chess once and he asked me why the horses have weird heads and I couldn't even answer. That kid just wanted to play something with spaceships and dice rolls. But I get what you're saying about the blind spot. I used to work with this guy who only played abstract strategy games on his phone during breaks and swore they were better than anything on a shelf. He'd always beat me at Hive in like five moves. Maybe I should give it another shot, but honestly I still kind of like rolling dice and hoping for the best part of a game.
