Hot take: Tuesday was the worst game night I've had in 5 years of hosting

We had 7 people show up, 3 argued over Catan rules for 45 minutes, someone spilled soda on my copy of Terraforming Mars, and then the power flickered right as we were about to start a new round of Wingspan, has anyone else had a night where everything just went wrong at once?

That perfect storm of bad luck thing hit me hard. Some nights the universe just has it out for you and there's nothing you can do but ride it out. Hope your next one is smooth sailing.

and that's just how life's been feeling lately honestly... like everything's got this fragile tipping point where one tiny stupid thing sets off a chain reaction. i notice it at work too, one small mistake and suddenly the whole day's a mess. it's like the universe tests you on the days you're least prepared for it. your game night sounds like a perfect storm of bad luck, but i think most of us have those nights where the universe just piles it on. hope next time goes smoother though, a good game night is worth fighting for.

Man that's exactly how it hits sometimes... for me what finally helped was learning to just stop and breathe when that first little thing goes wrong. @cole_baker I started giving myself a 5 minute break before reacting, just walk away from whatever it is. Usually those chain reactions happen because I'm already running on empty and trying to push through. So now when the universe piles it on I just accept that it's one of those days and let myself reset. Game night stuff is rough though because you can't exactly pause real life like that... but taking a minute to breathe before the next roll of the dice really does change things for me.
