I always thought a 3 hour game night was the sweet spot... then we tried a full 8 hour day

My group used to meet for about 3 hours every Friday, and we'd maybe get through one medium game like Terraforming Mars. Last month, my buddy Jake convinced us to do a full Saturday, starting at 10am. We played a campaign game, took a long lunch break to talk strategy, and finished a huge game of Twilight Imperium. The relaxed pace and time to really dig into the rules without feeling rushed changed everything. We got so much more invested in the story and the player interactions. Has anyone else made the switch from short sessions to a full game day? What's your schedule like?

Yeah, it's like everything else. People try to cram fun into these tiny time slots and wonder why it feels shallow. Giving something real time to breathe is always better.

Totally agree with you @murray.jana. Rushing things just kills the vibe. Letting stuff happen on its own time is way better.

Ugh, it's the same with everything now. We're all supposed to want the fast version of every experience, from food to friendships. It makes the whole world feel cheap and a little sad. Letting things take the time they need feels like a small act of rebellion.

YES, this COMPLETELY changed our group too. We went from rushed 3 hour weeknights to one epic Saturday a month and the difference is NIGHT and day - people actually remember the inside jokes and alliances that form over a full day.
