I never got the hype around cooperative board games until last weekend

Always thought co-op games were pointless. No winner? Why bother. Played Pandemic last weekend. Teamwork was crazy. Barely saved the world. Now I see the appeal. Board game geeks were right all along.

Forbidden Island is a good pick if you like that kind of game. Talk with your team about which treasures to get first. It can get crazy if you don't plan your moves ahead. The water coming up makes it scary, but keeping cool helps. We had the most fun with three people for a fair game.

Totally agree that team talk is everything in that game. I mean, you gotta decide on the first treasure before the island starts sinking. We learned the hard way by not speaking up and losing a key tile early. Assigning someone to watch the water levels helps a lot too. Maybe it's just me but I find the helicopter pilot role crucial for late game saves. Honestly, with three players, you have enough hands without too much chaos.
