Just realized I was sleeping on co-op board games after a friend's comment

I was playing Catan on Saturday with my group, and my buddy Mark said 'you know, some of us actually like working together instead of blocking each other's roads.' It hit me that I've been avoiding co-op games for years because I thought they were too easy or boring. He convinced me to try Pandemic on a whim, and honestly I loved the tension of everyone losing together. Has anyone else had a moment where one comment made you completely change your board game preferences?

bro same thing happened to me like two months ago. My cousin said "dude you're always so competitive, you're missing out on the fun stuff" and I was like nah I'm good. But then he made me play Forbidden Island and we lost in like 10 minutes. Honestly that failure was way more fun than winning at Catan. The whole vibe of everyone yelling at each other but still working together is so different. Now I'm looking for more co-op games and my usual group is totally into it. Really opened my eyes to how much I was missing.

Same thing happened to me. Co-op games changed how I look at game night completely.

The trick is finding the right co-op game for your group's vibe. My group started with Pandemic but got tired of quarterbacking real fast lol. Try something like The Crew where everyone has hidden objectives and you can't just boss each other around. Forbidden Desert is also a good next step because the game literally changes every time you play. Just make sure you're all okay with losing together sometimes. Some people get salty when they fail at co-op games too, which is honestly hilarious.
