My brother told me to never buy a board game without checking the playtime first

Honestly, he said that after I bought a game with a 3 hour runtime for our group that never meets longer than 90 minutes. I ignored him and got 'Dune: Imperium' anyway, thinking we'd make time. Ngl, it's been on my shelf for six months now, still in the shrink wrap. The group just won't commit to a session that long. I feel like I wasted sixty bucks. Has anyone else bought a game that just doesn't fit their crew's schedule?

Hey, maybe you just need a different group for that one?

Different group? For what, a casual game night or a peace summit? It's just a game, not a life changing event. People get way too worked up about finding the perfect players. Just grab some folks and start playing, it's not that deep. If it's not fun, you stop. No need to overcomplicate it.

Exactly, why treat every game like a job interview for friends?
