My FLGS owner said 'the game ends when the table stops having fun, not when the box says so'
We were 3 hours into a 5 player Twilight Imperium night at his shop in Portland and he just packed his pieces up mid round after a brutal agenda phase. Honestly made me rethink why I ever sit through a slog just to say I finished it. Do you all call games early or grind it out?

Man, I've spent so many nights grinding out the last two hours of a board game just because the box told me to. Good on your shop guy for having the guts to bail, I'm usually too stubborn to admit nobody's having fun anymore.
