My gaming group split over campaign vs one-shot games
I had to choose between a 40 hour campaign board game and a bunch of quick one-shots for our Friday night group. We went with the campaign and after 3 sessions two players dropped out because they couldn't make every week. How do you keep a group together for long games without people flaking?

Had you guys talked" is the key right there. Scheduling is just relationship management.

I mean, had you guys talked about the time commitment before picking the campaign, or did it just kind of happen?

Isn't the real question whether two people flaking out is actually a big deal or just normal adult life? Three sessions is a solid enough run for a game that maybe wasn't clicking anyway, and now you've got a clear schedule for your remaining loyal players. Seems like you dodged a bullet and got a built-in excuse to pivot to something that actually works for everyone.
