Overheard a guy at the game store say 'real gamers' only play heavy euros

He was at the counter in Denver last week and it just felt so gatekeepy. What's your favorite 'light' game that still gives a great experience?

Gatekeeping pops up everywhere, doesn't it? (Like the whole "real music" debate.) For a light game, I keep coming back to For Sale. You can teach it in two minutes, but the quick bidding and bluffing always gets the table laughing. It proves a game doesn't need a rulebook the size of a novel to be engaging.

Totally agree with @elizabethmason. For Sale is a perfect example of a simple game that just works every time.

I mean, "gatekeeping" feels a little heavy for a conversation about card games, doesn't it? It's just people liking different stuff.

Honestly, that guy sounds exhausting. My favorite light game is probably Sushi Go. It's just picking cute cards, but trying to build the best combo is so satisfying. Guess I'm not a real gamer then.
